ships help: pirates

cosmic Rage, as a rule, do not have pirates in the traditional sense.
We have rogue players[players that occasionally will go a bit nuts and curse down the entire empire], but the pirates we have here are automated NPC's.
Where do I find pirates:
When harvesting, you are more than likely going to notice the occasional pirate show up in your field alongside you.
Depending on your standing with the pirates will depend how they react:
1. If your standing with them is good, they will just harvest.
2. If your standing with them is bad, they will shoot at you
3. If your standing is neutral, they may do either.
Dangers of having a good standing with pirates:
When you launch or undock from a station, there is a chance, if patrol ships are nearby, that they will do what is called a spot check.
Spot checks take about 8 seconds and are where an SDL patrol ship scans the following things:
1. Ships general logs
2. Ships firing logs.
3. ships repair logs.
If your ship is found to have a good standing with pirates, you will be fined.
If your ship has a very good standing, the fine is more.
Advantages of having a good standing with pirates:
1. they do not bug you in fields, they just harvest alongside you.
2. You will get access to the off-white market[still in development]
How do I see my standing?
Look yourself up, either using the mapper or by using an information center.
