ships help: escape and evacuation pods
Escape pods work, unlike other games, on a system of movement just like a normal ship. This means that the further out you are, the potential longer time it will take you to get back to a docking point.
Note that in this file, assume escape pods and evacuation pods are the same thing.
What happens:
1. Your ship blows up and you are kicked out into an escape pod.
2. You choose a destination.
3. You begin to move towards that destination in your pod.
4. the pod arrives and you are tipped out.
If you are in deep space, it sometimes may be quicker to go to a nearby plant, and have someone pick you up.
To do this, set your destination to a plant and move there as normal.
After you are landed, put in a pick up request.
A player can now view the request on their radio or earpiece.
If no one comes to get you within ten minutes, there is a random chance that a passing SDL patrol will pick you up for a fee.
If you are in a mission, or a wormhole, your pod will enter what is called emergency mode.
In emergency mode, after you press move, your pod will fly in circles while it tries to lock onto a beam that beacon stations put out.
It uses this beam to know what direction to fly in to get back home.
It may take a little while, and during this time the ETA command and UC command will not work.
You can not abort emergency mode.
Full list of commands:
pickup: From an Industrial plant landing pad, puts in a pick up request.
pickup
/pickup: view pickup requests if you are a larkan.
The following commands are executed from an escape pod:
coordinates: Check the pods current coordinates
destination: check, and set, the pods destination
ETA: check the time of arrival
move: begin the pod moving
SOS: Send out a SOS
stop: stop the escape pods movement
UC: check the universal coordinates of the pod.
Note: Escape pods can be picked up by players if they have a ship, and a docking bay.
To do this, go to where the pod is. You can scan pods in the retrieval scan.
Type tug to tug it in. You will need retrieval lines.
All done!
