ships help: Deep Space Repairing

For years, pilots have known of the existence of dark matter in deep space. It has been used on industrial plants by highly experienced pilots to make a few things, but its usefulness has been limited to a few specialty items. In addition, pilots find that they can't stay in deep space for extended periods due to damage their ships take from enemies, and the limited abilities of in ship repair systems.

In late 2490, a few opportunists approached the SDF with new, experimental technology. This technology used resources such as metal, plastics and bricks, along with dark matter, to repair items on ships that are not usually fixable outside of battle stations. Unfortunately, dark matter being what it is, the repair process sometimes caused more damage than it fixed, and the SDF refused to allow this technology to be used legally.

In mid 2491, the same people submitted the improved version of their technology. This time, rather than using the raw dark matter, they'd created a refinery to remove impurities, thus lessening the chance of mishaps. They'd also incorporated several safety systems, which lengthened the time repairs took but made the process much safer.

Even with these precautions, SDF officials were nervous about the volatility of dark matter. Eventually, the SDF agreed to include the blueprints for this technology on industrial plants, but they insisted on patching starship computer firmware to forbid such repairs unless in deep space. The blueprints were released quietly, without official support by the SDF but still technically legal.

How it works:
1. You will need to create a ship refinery module and a deep space repair chamber module, both buildable on industrial plants.
2. In your ship, find two rooms you don't really need anymore. Install one module in each of these rooms. Be aware that, unlike most modules, this will completely replace any prior functionality of the room.
3. Have your mobile mining vehicle in the ship's vehicle bay and transfer dark matter into the tanks.
4. Go to your refinery and refine the matter.
5. Make sure you have lots of resources!
6. When needed, repair stuff!

Commands:
rtransfer : When you and your mining station are in the vehicle bay, this allows you to move unrefined matter between the vehicle and the repair room tank.
refine: From the refinery, begins the process of refining dark matter
ref-stop: From the refinery, stops the refining process after the current batch is finished.
summary or sum: from the repair chamber, displays all current resources.
dsrepair: From the repair chamber, allows you to start a repair process. You must be in deep space, and you will be unable to move your ship or do pretty much anything for ten minutes while the repair takes place.
repreqs: From the repair chamber, shows you how many of what resources are needed to repair each component.

Warning! This type of repair kills power to your ship, takes a good chunk of charge, and must be done with defenses down. You can not abort this process, so make sure you are not in a field in case enemies come.

Note: Due to the experimental and less than efficient method of repair, the max damage of any repaired component will be lessened by ten percent, and it takes a large amount of resources to do these. If you intend to use this technology, be prepared!
