Learning about the Shalka race.

Appearance

Shalka, as one might expect, have very similar appearances to the Ryuchi, see related section.
The main difference is, of course, their scales.
All Shalka, without exception, are off-white. Due to their style of living and cultural methodology, they can appear mostly bulky and thick limbed.

Planet of origin

As they are descended from Ryuchi, the planet of origin for the Shalka is technically Goscro Krah.
They have been universally expelled from the planet and so therefore live a nomadic existence, resting more on asteroids and planetoids as well as ships.

Historical Information

The shalka and the Ryuchi share a history for many years until they were expelled from Goscro Krah.
After they were expelled the Shalka fled across the stars, first only existing in spread out ships, running and hiding mostly for their own safety.
There were many who were scared and few who actually had any idea what to do.
Over time the Shalka grouped together, groups or clans you might say forming and absorbing, sometimes fighting each other until unification was eventually achieved.
Since their unification, the Shalka became a higher and higher threat, carrying out a gorilla warfare against the alliances and in particular attacking the dragons whom they blame for their problems and for corrupting their brothers.
The ryuchi hate the Shalka more than the Shalka hate the Ryuchi, though they firmly distrust them.
In the early 2490's a planetoid that the Shalka were using drifted into sector 19, close to Goscro Krah. This, it turned out, was a nesting place for the next generation of Shalka. Whether it was the only nesting place is unclear, but the significance of the capture was enough for the Shalka to universally surrender, declaring a nonaggression pact with the alliance.
This however is now unconfirmed as unfortunately this Planetoid was destroyed in a later invasion of Droidic enemies as part of a separate takedown of an enemy satellite.
While, thanks to the brief pause in hostilities, the alliance has managed to field many heavy weaponry and space styled artillery to areas where the Shalka revealed their Planetoids to be, many remain convinced this is only a small amount of their hideouts. It would seem only logical that the Shalka are better preparing themselves though is it for war, or for a vanishing act?
The SDL has been unable to field many of their heavy front line vessels to the area as they are needed in more active battle fronts.

Dietary Requirements

The Shalka seem to be mostly, if not all, omnivorous, though lean towards herbivorous more than their Ryuchi brothers due to the nomadic life style and the need to keep things compressed.

Status

The Shalka are currently listed as a threatened species.
The Shalka's alliance status is suspected hostilities.
This status is given to any race which is confirmed to, or suspected as, taken aggressive against the alliance races. This status restricts the military from preemptive or offensive attacks until the status is moved up to declaration of war.
