Learning about the Caitsa race.

Appearance

The Caitsa were short in stature, measuring only three feet but this small height was offset by incredibly thick limbs and sense of balance. We tell you this so that you understand that a charging human could not just bowl over several Caitsa, though in a one on one wrestling match the human would likely have the advantage.
Caitsa have six legs, four lower and two upper with a strangely curved spine. It is best to think of them as centaur in shape, though this image is not entirely accurate either. The four rear legs are thick and stocky, supporting a rounded body which has a curved spine.
The upper body curves up at an angle until the head, which is vulpine in feature, tops it. The Caitsa have two fairly small ears and two very large eyes.

Planet of Origin

Koroku.

Unique Abilities

The Caitsa were venomous and could spit poison rather like many snakes. Their breath also had a slight anesthetical quality which, while not affective against trained operatives, could put out your average civilian for an hour or so.

Historical Information

the Caitsa were deeply territorial, nasty little beasts who decided to take on the human race in a one on one slug match until death do them part.
they were the first race that humanity encountered and relations were never particularly friendly. A combination of piracy on the side of the humans and short tempered, territorial spite meant they were never fated to get along.
The war with humanity raged like a burning fire and many from both sides fled the conflict, setting up colonies far away from anything related to it. Eventually the Caitsa were beaten and their space travel technology utterly destroyed but not without great cost to the humans.
Up until the late 2480's there were those who still believed the Caitsa existed, especially as the race's listing refused to classify them as extinct, however, after the Kalt occupation the planet, the likelyhood of any surviving seems so small as to be impossible.

Dietary Requirements

Despite their appearance, Caitsa were strict vegetarians, dining mostly on a very thick tree that is native to Koroku called "Bunchaki" or roughly translated, "Chewy Bark."

Status

This race is currently listed as declaration of war, status 0, meaning suspected to be beaten.
the race is still not listed as extinct by The Galactic Senate instead they are listed as highly threatened.

20152015Expansion into Koroku ColonieseventCaitsa explorers reached several nearby asteroids and claimed it as an extension of their territory. This milestone represented Caitsa’s transition to a spacefaring species and heightened their resource extraction capabilities, setting the stage for interplanetary ambitions.
21902190Humanity begins to encounter their first enemy race.eventWhisperings of strange creatures reached the ears of Command Leader Durmats.
21952195First Encounter with Human ShipseventThe Caitsa encountered human civilian starships near Koroku's outer territories. 21962196Piracy Raid by Caitsa Forces on Maraquda Trade ShipseventIn retaliation for perceived territorial incursions, Caitsa ships intercepted and raided human trade vessels en route to Maraquda. The raids were swift and effective, giving Caitsa forces a tactical and economic edge early in the conflict.
21982198Caitsa Blockade of MaraqudaeventCaitsa forces established a blockade around Maraquda, targeting human supply lines to destabilize the planet’s economy and food security. The blockade imposed food rationing on Maraquda’s population, severely weakening human morale and resources.
21992208Caitza Rule is Maintained Through Harsh Military LaweventFrom 2199 to 2208, Caitza rule is maintained through harsh military law. Human occupiers who were not evacuated are stripped of all military equipment, and speaking is banned between the hours of 7:00 A.M and 8:00 P.M.

22012201Human Counter-Blockade on KorokueventIn response to the Maraquda blockade, humanity established a blockade around Koroku, attempting to weaken Caitsa by restricting resources. This resulted in a brutal standoff, as both sides fought to maintain their lines in a costly war of attrition.
22072207Development of Enhanced Venom-Infused WeaponryeventCaitsa developed a more concentrated form of their venom, enabling them to inject it into weaponized darts. These weapons were used to attack human stations and ships, allowing Caitsa forces to capture supplies and territory.
22072207Desperate Assault on Koroku’s Surface by Human ForceseventHuman forces, near defeat, launched a final desperate assault on Koroku's surface. Caitsa warriors defended fiercely, using their territorial knowledge to gain an edge in ground combat, resulting in heavy casualties for both sides.
22092209Several chemical weapons are developed by the desperate human defendors.eventDr. Helena Maraine, Maraquden biological scientist, is creditted with the development of two new chemical weapons, 1 an anti-agent for interspecies toxins and anesthetics such as those used by the Caitsa, and the second is a genetically modified virus specifically designed to attach to the Caitsa food source, the Bunchaki trees, and illiminate them.
22102210The destruction of the Bunchaki treeseventHumanity, high off of its localised victorious move of neutralising the Caitsa venum, push forward with everything they have and blockade Koroku. Over the next month or two, they undertake huge space to ground bombardment campaigns until, using emergency powers gifted to him by Earth governments at the start of the war, Command Leader Durmats authorises the use of the second chemical weapon. Highly potent and shockingly swift, the Bunchaki trees are utterly decimated and with it, the Caitsa's ability to produce food. Within a few months the race, as a whole, is on the verge of extinction.
January 14th, 2211January 14th, 2211The surrender of the Caitsa raceeventThe Caitsa race, or what is left of it, formally surrenders to human Earth forces. A once fairly large population is now in ruin, their food sources completely destroyed and their infrastructure rendered utterly useless. Those who do not surrender flee into far parts of the planet Koroku while those who do are lead away to detention camps and quietly removed from the eye of a very irate public. It is considered from this point that the Caitsa race is considered to have gone extinct, though no official decloration of such an event has ever been made.
