Learning about the Pauagiwa race.

Appearance

Pauagiwa generally range between 3 and 4 and a half feet in height. They are humanoid, with two legs, two arms and a single head that features two eyes, a nose and a mouth. Thanks to their over 1,000 years of servitude they have evolved to develop thicker arm and leg muscles, especially in the females. They have two ears which are slightly larger than that of humans and offer slightly more maneuverability.
both male and females are covered in hair, though the females tend to have more fine strands while the male's is thicker.

Planet of origin

the planet of origin is unknown, but the Pauagiwa are currently given citizenship on Maraquda either as servants or as free members.

Unique Abilities

pauagiwa possess abilities orientated towards subtlety and passification.
They are known to be able to cloak themselves by changing their skin colour to match the colour and pattern of their background, to be able to go unnoticed when they entered or left a room. It does not make them invisible, just less noticeable.
Pauagiwa have kept records of their experiences and the things they have seen through music. This music, given resonance through their enhanced vocal cords have been known to cause damage and temporarily provide relief from pain or injury.

Historical Information

The history of the race is one that we are only now beginning to uncover.
Parts of it have been passed down in song, each worker singing a song of loss and of need but this is where it all begun.
Early 13th-14th century Russia. A land just about getting over an invasion and getting used to a Mongol occupation.
Not at all ready, you would think, for a spaceship that landed full of intelligent beings who came in peace.
You would be wrong.
Upon its landing, the craft was instantly set upon. Perhaps the riders were looking to claim status, perhaps they were simply wary of any outside intruders but it is thanks to the Pauagiwa capture in the late 13th century that allowed Daniil Aleksandrovich to bring Moscow from a small timbre fort to what it was by the 21st century.
You must understand, the Pauagiwa did not want war. It is indeed unclear why they came to Earth in the first place.
Some theorists say they were aiming somewhere else, but got shot down by the Caitza. Others say they wanted to help advance the race.
What ever the reason, a team of 5000 Pauagiwa were captured in a rough passage of about 45 years before they just stopped.
No more visits, no fighting, no attempt to set their brothers free.
It was as though they ran out of people or the race had lost interest.
As far as historians know, that was the end of it. Either the remaining pauagiwa ran, or they were killed off by other fledgling races.
As far as any official documentation knows, that was the end of the Pauagiwa. They were thought to have been killed off but that was not the end of this story.
In 2444, Pauagiwa were discovered on a mining cart that was taking goods to Maraquda, the only planet which the Old Earth Russia insisted on claiming. Even to this day, Maraquda is hostile to outsiders and remains one of the only planets which does not allow any form of teleportation, by outsiders or citizens, despite allowing them to stay on the planet if they wish.
The discovery of the race sparked a war between the ryuchi planet of Goscro Krah and the Maraquden planet that was resolved, a few years later, by the SDF.
In this, the Pauagiwa lucked out.
Nothing was achieved.
As the years went by, little slivers of information begun leaking from Maraquden government.
In the late 2460s, while on an expedition across the Maraquden wildlands, a place where no life has been able to spawn for around 200 years due to an unknown disaster, SDF members discovered a small fleet of mining carts lead by a Maraquden family known as the Kuznetzovas.
"They are not slaves they are workers." the family is famous for saying.
Yet nothing changed.
In recent years a group of Scientists began investigating just what it was that caused the Pauagiwa to become enslaved to the Maraquden government.
So far they have discovered that the Pauagiwa came with the Russian Government when it moved to Maraquda.
They discovered that all Pauagiwa dwellings are set underground. Each family owns a set of Pauagiwa and each Pauagiwa set is never a family.
Any signs of familial tendencies, for example, a mother beginning to adopt children, would result in the instant splitting of that set for another random selection.
Each family has their own mark which they brand onto the Pauagiwa.
In the modern day, Pauagiwa are slowly buying their freedom and are even being allowed to live on Maraquden soil. Pauagiwa pilots become outcasts of the planet yet they have found their own kind of unity, almost their own family.

Dietary Requirements

pauagiwa appear to be omnivorous, though a preference for a vegetarian diet does appear in many of the members.

Status

pauagiwa are currently listed as endangered, but not threatened. Pauagiwa have no formal race member on the Senate, however representation and interests is given by The United Counsel, a group of six individuals who investigate Pauagiwa care cases and attempt to enhance laws for their benefit.
They are considered members of The Galactic Senate alliance and current diplomatic status fall in line with that body.
