PLAGIARISM POLICYThis Document outlines the rules and procedures concerning the creation and use of player-generated content within the game environment. It is supplementary to, and forms an integral part of, the broader Public Content Policy.
SCOPE OF CONTENT RULES
This document addresses the unauthorised reproduction, use, or presentation of content belonging to others as one's own. It applies to all forms of player-generated content within the game that are accessible to other players, including but not limited to names, descriptions of items, descriptions of locations, emotes, posts, and automated responses (collectively, "Player Content").
DEFINITION OF PLAGIARISM
For the purposes of this document, plagiarism includes:
1. DIRECT COPYING OF PLAYER CONTENT: The verbatim or near-verbatim reproduction of any Player Content, whether created by another player, a Host, or staff, without original significant transformation or contribution. This includes, but is not limited to, names, object descriptions, and other textual elements within the game environment.
2. UNEDITED AI-GENERATED CONTENT: The direct, unedited, or largely unmodified incorporation of content generated by artificial intelligence tools. While AI tools may be utilised as an aid in content creation, all Player Content must demonstrate substantial original input and modification by the player. Content that is merely copied and pasted from an AI source without discernable creative effort will be deemed plagiarised.
3. OFF-GAME SOURCE VIOLATIONS: In accordance with the Public Content Policy, Player Content must not be copied from any off-game or external source. This prohibition extends to copyrighted works, public domain texts, and content for which external licenses might otherwise permit use. Player Content created within the game environment must be original to the player in that context.
ORIGINALITY REQUIREMENT
Players are expected to create original Player Content. The game environment thrives on the unique contributions of its community. Content must reflect the player's own creative effort and expression.
REPORTING INFRINGEMENTS
Any player who suspects a breach of this Plagiarism Policy should file a report using the designated "report" command within the game, selecting the "misc" category. Reports should include sufficient detail to enable Hosts to conduct a thorough investigation.
HOST INVESTIGATION AND RESOLUTION
Upon receipt of a plagiarism report, Hosts will undertake a diligent investigation. This will involve a thorough inspection of the Player Content in question, an assessment of its originality, and a consideration of creation timelines to ascertain the original authorship as far as reasonably determinable. The player identified as the original creator will typically be given priority consideration in cases of dispute.
If plagiarism is substantiated, the following steps will be taken:
1. MODIFICATION REQUEST: The player responsible for the plagiarised content will be formally requested to modify the "object" (or other relevant Player Content) to ensure its originality and compliance with these provisions. A grace period of one (1) week will be provided for these modifications to be completed.
2. HOST INTERVENTION: Should the required modifications not be completed within the specified one-week period, a Host reserves the right to either modify the Player Content to achieve compliance or remove it entirely from the game environment, at their sole discretion, depending on the nature and extent of the plagiarism and the object in question.
CONSEQUENCES OF PLAGIARISM
Repeated instances of plagiarism, following previous warnings or interventions, will result in the issuance of a formal warning to the offending player. The accumulation of such warnings may lead to further disciplinary action as outlined in the bans and punishments policy.
APPEAL PROCESS
Players who believe that a decision or action taken against them under this Plagiarism Policy is incorrect or unjust may file an appeal. Appeals should be submitted using the "@appeal" command within the game. All appeals will be reviewed by the hosting team whose decision shall be final.
