world help: the pulse cannon

The pulse cannon is a type of weapon that will fire a concentrated pulse of energy directly at a ship.
It uses a highly-compacted form of electricity and proton compression, forming a rather unstable ball of highly-damaging molecules.
The weapon was first tested in 2399, but was unfortunately rather unsuccessful.
With the invention of proton B2599, a type of balancing agent that caused protons to become temporarily stable, only to explode later, the weapon was retested.
In 2429, the weapon saw its first successful test out on the frontlines, taking out a Vacus Cruiser in one shot.
one low-point of the cannon is the heat it generates which renders stealth useless for a short time after firing.
in the modern day, the heat issue is still present, though leading scientists have managed to compress the amount of energy required so that it can be used by civilian starships.
the pulse cannon is originally a human creation, but the later additions are of cy-larken design.
