world help: the earth

The Earth

--------------

You may be wondering, what happened to the nations of the world.
In 2060, it became very obvious that the Earth was going to fail.
A government was formed which was named the Earth Alliance made up of the united states of America, china, The United Kingdom, Russia, north Korea, and Australia.
They formed what swiftly became known as the powerful 5. These countries formed teams of scientists, Generals, and other such units in order to swiftly advance the human races advancement into space.
As you can imagine, there were some nations that were not exactly happy with this.
In 2063, the unification war begun. It is this war, many argue, that sped up the downfall of Earth. "Boys and their toys" as the saying goes.
The unification war, 2063 to 2083 was the largest, the bloodiest, and the only worldwide nuclear war to ever take place in history.
It was in this war that most other nations fell victim, the population of the human race had decreased drastically from over 8 billion to a mere 1.5 billion.
In the following 2 years, a further 400,000,000 people died due to nuclear radiation.
This is when the first biodomes were built.
Biodomes were meant to be a temporary solution. It was discussed that the big 5 would launch a space station called Star Command, to which people could flee the Earth, and hopefully survive. In the meantime, however, biodomes had to be constructed.
The original plan was to have 5. Unfortunately, this did not go as planned.
The united states of America was not as united as they wanted the alliance to believe and in 2095, 5 years after the launch of Star command, a further 35 biodomes were built as states pulled out, making their own governmental bodies.
Throughout all of this, several countries, Spain, Italy, Germany, Mexico and India did neither join, nor fight an alliance. They managed to remain relatively unscathed in the wars, instead choosing to construct their own biodomes.
The Indian biodomes were by far the best. Made mostly underground, they were immune from radiation.
In 2125, disaster struck.
It was known for a few years now that the unification war had had a terrible backlash on the Earth itself. How bad, however, was not made clear until 2125, when the whole of eastern Asia actually broke, and sunk down into the ocean. Mass death was the result, and the entire Indian biodomes were lost.
Driven into a panic, the remaining non-allied countries began desperate colonisation in order to try and save their culture.
While often the accents live on today, most of the cultures, we fear, have been lost.
By 2200, the original 5 domes, that expanded to 55, were now back down to 20, most of which were owned by the United States.
In 2250, the United Kingdom, Russian and Chinese biodomes were evacuated, combining into one bigger dome, which is the one you are able to visit in the modern day.
This left the North Korean, Australian, American and 14 other state domes on their own.
As you would expect with humans, where there was peace, there was swiftly war. Within 100 years the number of state-owned domes dropped from 14 to 5, and the Tennessee dome was whiped out by a nuclear missile in 2350.
By 2370, the Australian biodome had suffered huge amounts of damage from the storms that were engulfing the original island. This caused it to be evacuated and destroyed, the remaining inhabitants moving into the united biodome (the one that is accessible today.)
With the alliance formed with the Cy-Larkan in 2400, many Earth dwellers believed it was time to unite completely into one dome.
Three state biodomes, Oregon, Washington, and Alabama, swiftly agreed, along with the North Korean dome.
This left 4 domes.
Peace seemed impossible, the Texan and full American domes always arguing, and the remaining other state dome, Carolina. Refusing to cooperate. Yet, somehow, it worked.
Right up through the 2430's, the star disaster, and into the 2450's, everything went fine.
It was in 2467 that death struck once again. In what many people argue was a deliberate, but what is documented as a terrorist action, the Carolina dome fired mini-nuclear missiles at the American dome, shattering its outer plating.
This attack came with little warning and caused half of the dome to collapse instantly. A mere 4 percent of the people in the dome survived, the others unfortunately dying to radiation poisoning.
Not much could be proven about the attack, but when a similar one failed in 2478, this time against the Main Dome, tempers flared.
From 2478 right up until 2488, a brutal war was fought between the Texas and Carolina domes, concluding when the Texan dome was destroyed in an aerial bombardment in 2488. Many, many Earth dwellers lives have been lost, putting the population down in the mere millions. Though the human race lives on.
Earth itself now only contains two domes. One of which is open to the public. The bleak dictatorship which was once known as Carolina remains closed.
Major conflicts on the planet have thankfully died out, except in 2489. There was a short, three-day civil war in the Main dome, that was brought to a swift halt when SDF heavy troopers stormed in and threatened to tear the place apart.
In the early 2490's, a scientist by the name of Mary Woodland successfully ran a project that saw part of Earth's atmosphere get processed into more breatheable air. This allowed for the opening of the first ever town outside of a dome after the disaster of the wars.
New Cardiff, as it was named, survives only due to massive atmosphere generators placed strategicly around the area. These generators are large, but expensive, meaning that they can only really be used for small towns.
