world help: the Vacus Race
The Vacus, or Vacai in plural form, have been warring with the allied race for over two centuries in total.Their name is pronounced, Vay, Cuss. the plural form of the word, Vacai, is pronounced, Vay, Kai.
The appearance of the Vacus race varies only a little, though the following characteristics have aways been observed:
Height: Between 4 and 6 feet.
Tentacles on the head. the number of these seem to vary from Vacus to Vacus, though whether this is due to slightly different genetic ancestries, mating habits, or something else is unclear. What is known is that the more tentackles a Vacus has, the worse they generally are.
Vacai most often have 3 legs, each with a three toed foot. Vacus also carry two short arms, which are gifted with a four-clawed hand and two opposable thumbs.
The Vacus were discovered in 2235, though historical data suggests the Dragons may have met the race before, and that there was some kind of cover up. The first war begun in 2237, due to reasons noted in the history books as "Unfortunately timed events."
Perhaps the biggest spark that set caused the fire of war was when a platoon of military soldiers were discovered too have, while drunk one night, ransacked a neutral Vacus village, only for scientists to then come in and begin biological studies.
Government assurances were not enough, and so in 2237 the Vacus began Vengeance strikes. "Blood demands Blood." was the recruiting campaign the Vacus used, and, indeed, for a while in 2238, it looked as though the dragon race might even side with the Vacus.
It was only in 2240, after a Dragon village was bombarded by a Vacus strike, that the Dragons decided to side with the humans and forge their almost unbroken loyalty to this day.
In 2270, Vacus were declared as Rogues on all allied planets, their villages and cities given only two weeks to evacuate before they were flattened by nuclear strikes.
Historically, it is known that the Vacus never developed nuclear style technology, as they are highly sensative to radiation.
Vacus breathe through tiny holes in their skin, which can make them susceptible to certain gas attacks, as well.
that did not mean they were powerless. Vacus technological development is almost equal to the humans in terms of speed, which lead to most conflicts being more about tactics than new missiles.
The Vacus use an unknown mineral to forge explosives, though it is known,, through studies of debris, that the mineral will not explode if fired at extremely close quarters.
This was a discovery made in the early 2300's, and lead to several heavy defeats for the Vacus, allowing the allies to force them out of what was then considered local space.
Vakari was the closest Vacus planet to the allies, and became the target for several sieges over the following 200 years.
Despite numerous victories, when the war with the droids began in 2320 it looked as though the allies had bitten off more than they could chew.
With Droids on the left and Vacus on the right, allied forces quickly began to see conditions declining.
A period of rationing was declared from 2340 to 2415, due to trading ships being shot down when ever they ventured into space, and aerial bombardment causing many crops to fail.
Allied forces became split, as local sectors began to fall under combined Droid and Vacus assaults. While the species at this point were never allied, it was clear that their combine efforts were too much for the dragons and humans to take on at the same time.
In 2350, morale received a much needed boost as Shalka forces were turned away by a combination of Ryuchi, Dragons and Humans and in 2370, with the acceptance of the Ryuchi, plans were laid for a comeback that would see the enemies on the run.
It wasn't for another 40 years, and two Supreme Commander changes later, until the Vacus were given the biggest thrashing recorded in the last 400 years, a defeat that single handedly took back over 50 percent of Vacus conquered space, and captured trillions of credits worth of food, supplies and land.
By 2405, due to mounting losses, a non-aggression pact was signed with the Vacus code name the ink pad that stated no further military action would come from either side, but neither would trade agreements be laid in place.
A vacus Embassy was set up on Navu, and a dragon Embassy was set up on a space station called Vorax, on the very edge of Vacus home space.
Vacus space is divided into two sections, according to historical data, the first, called home space, is a set of 15 sectors on the spiral arm of a galaxy named by the humans as Iona. This is what the Vacus call, home space. Each sector is a solar system, in which reside between 3 and 8 planets, around 80 percent of which are inhabited. those not containing life have been terraformed and turned into military testing grounds, and starship building docks.
Vacus space stations number in the few, due to the races expensive design ideas and often times extravagant power management systems.
the peace treaty staid for over 20 years, until Vacus forts began popping up to one side of allied space. Worried about advanced military strikes, the allies protested against the placement of the forts and were told to "but out, and mind your own goddamn stinkin' business." - A quote from Diplomatic Meeting of august 8th, 2426.
This is when a suspected alliance began to be talked about between the Droids and the Vacus, due to intel collected that showed how Vacus Forts looked remarkably similar to the droids in how they were made, and how they were not expensive to make.
In November 2426, a state of war was declared between the allies and the Vacus after a suspected weapons strike against Navu missed only by a few units, instead blowing up a Dragon Research Station, killing 30,000 Dragon scientists.
When the Star Disaster occurred in 2430, the Vacus fled ahead of the flames, leaving the allies to deal with it themselves.
Not much is known about what the vacus were up to between 2430 and 2460, only that exploratory missions out towards the east ended in disaster thanks to their forts who were somehow unaffected by the disaster.
Running skirmishes took place for the next 10 to 15 years, allowing the allies to establish contact with their main sectors, and in a few cases, claim them back.
In 2490, the Vacus were driven from Vakari for the very last time, and the planet laid claim as allied territory.
In 2491, under the new advisement of a female Chief General, along with the careful placement of one of the SDL's conqueror, Vacus ships have been slowly on the retreat.
It was in 2492 that the Chief General officially changed the SDL stance on Vacus troops as offensive, rather than defensive. It is true that sometimes, Vacai ships will penetrate into local sectors on missions of some kind, but these days, it is highly unlikely to see a full on planetary takeover unless it is for hostages.
The Vacus planets are known to be well defended through use of energy field technology, which is their speciality. The Vacai temporarily seemed to conquer the Droidic race, in 2490, but this alliance, or what ever it was, seemed to be at an end in 2491.
Intelligence about the race indicates that planets they take over are usually immediately stripped of all space-bound technologies or weaponry, reducing the planet to, at latest, the age of steam.
The Vacai will usually allow the planet to keep medical equipment up-to-date for a fee of resources paid to their empire.
The Vacai live in hives upon their planets, which they construct usually out of stone. Hives can have up to 500 in, though usually number in the 250 to 300's. Vacai government is thought to be a military dictatorship.
