Access Tubes
On planets, you find that you must land on the landing platform or some other form of that name. This, of course, requires heat shields to be set to certain Ranks, depending upon the atmosphere of the planet. On space stations and most factories, save for debris facilities that are public, you find something a little different.
Enter, access tubes!
So, what are access tubes, anyway?
In some games, rooms of this type would be considered docking platforms or something similar. An access tube is, again, found on space stations and factories that are not artificial planet rank.
What is the difference between an access tube and a landing platform?
A landing platform would show that you are on a planet, where an access tube is not landable. As the name suggests, an access tube will provide you access to the space station or factory you are docking to.
So, since I cannot land on the access tube, what do I do?
After you have rifted to the space station or factory with the access tube, you simply must use the DOCK command from your ship's control room or bridge.
