ships help: The automatic movement unit, AMU
AMU stands for the Automatic Movement Unit which comes installed by default on most ships that need it.If your ship does not have it and you want it, you can buy it as an upgrade at a relatively cheap price.
So how does it work?
AMU is a system that allows your ship to fly in a direction continuously, without pause, until such time as it blows up, runs out of charge or, of course, you tell it to stop.
AMU is controlled through the AMU command.
The first thing you can pass to AMU is a direction.
You can do this in one of two ways.
AMU supports the number pad directional system I.E 7 is northwest, 8 is north, 9 is northeast and so on.
If, like me, you could never understand all that nonsense though, you can just tell AMU to go east, or north with the AMU n, AMU east commands.
AMU can also go up and down along with the standard north, northeast and so on.
To stop moving either type amu stop, or just stop.
For the purposes of the IC world, the AMU drive was an invention of the Dragons and is credited to Simvaene Green Scale and Hokti Deep Blue Scale.
Recommended help files: shelp Space or Nautical direction.
