rp help: Fade to black or FTB
What is FTB?
Much like in books or movies, things happen off screen in roleplay games as well. Sure, it can be tempting to roleplay every single second of existence, and most of the time, you can do so. However, there are times when certain subject matters might be explored, things that you (the player) are not comfortable emoting but your character would realistically do. In instances like these and with the consent of people whom you are roleplaying with, you may request a Fade to Black (FTB) over room OOC. If everyone involved is agreed, you fast forward to just after the roleplay in question has occurred and roleplay the results or aftermath. What if they don't want to FTB?
If someone is insistent that they wish not to do an FTB when you have requested one, then it is safe to say that roleplay does not occur. You should never be forced to roleplay something that does not bring you joy as this game is just that, a game. Cosmic Rage is here for you to enjoy yourselves. If you are pressured to roleplay something you do not wish to, please put in a harassment report as necessary. Likewise, if someone requests a Fade to Black of you and you do not wish to do so, either change the direction of the roleplay or consider the benefits of agreeing to it.When could I use an FTB?
Obviously, you want to roleplay more often than not. After all, this is a roleplay game. However, here are some common examples of when FTB's occur. We cannot cover all instances, so use at your best discretion.1. Sex scenes: All of CR's playable characters are of consenting age, but you might not wish to actually roleplay such scenes while your character would still engage.
2. Murders or explicit violence: Sometimes, roleplay will occur in which two characters or more are violent towards each other. If the logistics are simply too difficult to figure out, role some dice to determines who wins and FTB. Then have fun at the GMC to get your torn wings repaired.
3. NTC interactions: Obviously, if you are not willing to roleplay an entire interaction with an NPC such as a doctor or a waiter, you can simply do a short FTB. We suspect owing to how CR restaurants work, most people are already using these.
If you have any specific questions about use cases for the FTB, please feel free to put in a support ticket.
