general help: sector security grades

Each sector of space has a security grade assigned to it by the SDL.
Understand that all local sectors are considered secure, but the grading gives you an idea of where military presents is most felt, and where they will respond to problems from the quickest.
The grading system runs from A to F, with A being the most secure and F being the least secure.
uncharted sectors are generally considered grade F, however, the local sector nearest to that must also be taken into account.
One example of how sector security ratings are important is with pirates.
Pirates only harvest in fields in lower security sectors, because then they are less-likely to be run off by the military.
It is generally assumed that uncharted sectors next to locals that have ratings of A or B will be pirate free.
