general help: navigating through space

Space navigation on the game is pretty simple.
there are a few modes of engine which are covered in separate help files, but there are a few things you should note:
1. Local sectors run from -500 to 500 on the X and Y.
2. Box Sectors run from -6000 to 6000 on the X, Y and Z axis.
3. There are two types of coordinate:
Galactic Coordinates: these are the coordinates of your ship within a box sector. Unless otherwise stated, always assume that the word coordinates refers to Galactic Coordinates.
Universal Coordinates: this refers to a position relative to Galactic 0. Each sector has a set of universal coordinates, for example, sector 01 is at 0, 1, 0. Sector 02, because it is directly north of sector 01, has the universal coordinates of 0, 2, 0.
4. If you wanted to travel from sector 1 to sector 2 without using any jumping system, you would set course to head straight north.
Similarly, if you wanted to get from sector 3 to sector 2 without jumping, you'd go straight south.
5. Directly below sectors 1 through to War Cluster omega, and directly above these sectors are regions of highly unstable space.
Anything with universal coordinates 0, something, -1 should be avoided at all costs.
Anything with universal coordinates 0, something, 1 is safe enough but expect high amounts of star activity which could be potentially dangerous.
Anything to the west or east of the above mentioned sectors, I.E anything with universal coordinates -1, something, 0, or anything with universal coordinates 1, something, 0 will have forts. You can get past these, just don't stop in these sectors unless you want to get beaten up by enemy ships.
That all being said, until you get to level 900 you really don't need to worry about any of this stuff, because the game won't let you out of uncharted space anyway.
