general help: Skills

Skills are, as the name suggests, a way for people to improve their activities.
First of all, skills, simply put, help you get more stuff. This stuff can be gems, minerals, or chances.
There are uncountable skills on Cosmic Rage (do not even think of counting for we add new ones constantly)!
How does one raise a skill?
Research Complex, located in sector 14, is the Central Galactic Skill center.
How do I get there?
If you have a starship, go there.
If you do not then:
Locate your nearest landing pad, or access tube and type Taxi research complex.
You might also locate your nearest teleportation room and Use the Teleport command and choose the Research complex from the list of many destinations.
Once you are on the Research Complex:
1. Find your skill room.
2. Train it up!
What are the commands I need to know:
General commands:
Skills: List your skills and how much you have raised them, as well as how high they can be raised at the moment.
Skills : Display only a single skill.
train-time: view how long until you can train another skill.
Trainable: See what skills you can currently train higher than what they are.
Within a training room:
view: view the skill, Rank and pricing of each raise.
Train: Train your skill.
What is this time thing?
After you raise a skill, there is a period of time in which you can not raise another skill in the same general category. It may take some experimentation to figure out which skills are grouped together, but in most cases skills on the same floor at the research complex will be in the same group.
What are authorization Ranks?
Authorization Ranks are the categories in which all of our skills are divided. We currently have 6 authorization Ranks. When you train a skill under a specific authorization Rank, you will not be able to train a skill in that same category for some time. You may train skills in different authorization Ranks, provided you have waited enough time since you last trained a skill in that Rank. The train-time command can tell you how much time is left on each of your authorization Ranks. The skills command can show you all of the skills in the game, the last number in the line for a skill denotes which authorization Rank the skill is under. For example, type skills, the first thing you might see is:
Skill name, your Rank, the maximum you can raise it to at the moment., the authorization Rank of the skill.
acids: 1.0 10.0, 1
The number one appearing at the end of the line signifies that the acid skill is a Rank 1 authorization skill.
What is the point in raising skills?
Bigger rewards! Skills allow you to use bigger weapons, get more minerals, use more lines, repair armor faster, and so much more!
Why is a skill showing as higher than what I can train it to?
A few skills, such as warp and starship weapons, train up a little with use. There are caps to how much you can raise a skill this way, but it can and does happen.
Rank: n/a.
Race advantages: You may have noticed that some skills are in the minus region. This is not a bug. Some races are quite unsuitable to perform a task. Take for example, Cy-larkan and fishing. They are unlikely to be able to do it as they can not cast the line, and electronics and water do not mix. This is not to say you can not train your skill, however.
Note, not all skills are trainable at research complex. If you discovered a skill not being trainable there, feel free to reach out to someone in character to get the whereabouts of where you can train that particular skill.
If you are wondering what a skill is, for example, what you would use it in, you can type skills followed by the skill name to get a description on it, and to see how much it is trained up along with it's maximum level.
