Prompts
Many commands on Cosmic Rage ask you questions before they finish. This help file explains the kinds of prompts you will meet and what you can type at each one.
Menus
A menu is a numbered list followed by "Enter a number, or a partial item name." Type the number of your choice, or type part of its name instead, for example cof for coffee. If what you type does not match, the menu tells you so and shows the list again. After three wrong tries it gives up and aborts the command.
Single line prompts
These ask for one line of text, such as a name or a search word, and end with a reminder in square brackets. Type your answer and press Enter.
- a or @abort: cancel the command. Nothing you entered so far is kept.
- @blank: enter an empty line, for example to leave something blank or keep the suggested value.
- Banner mode: you have 30 seconds to type yes or no. Other commands you type in the meantime do not count as an answer, and the game reminds you that a yes or no prompt is pending.
- Dialogue mode: you can take as long as you like, but the next command you type is your answer. Type y or yes to agree; anything else counts as no.

Anything else you type is taken as your answer, so you cannot use other game commands until you answer or abort.
Yes or no prompts
These end with "Enter yes or no." Type yes or no.
Yes or no requests from other players
Some yes or no questions come from other players, for example when someone wants to lead you. How these work depends on your prompt option, which you can change by typing options prompt.
The multi-line editor
Descriptions, mail and other longer texts are written in the multi-line editor. Type your text one line at a time, and type a single period (.) on a line by itself, or done, to finish and save. Commands in the editor start with @, and @help lists them all, including @list to read what you have written, @delete to remove the last line, @replace to change a line and @abort to leave without saving. See help editting and the editor for the full list.
Form fields
Some longer setups, such as building a room on your factory, use a form instead of a chain of prompts. You fill in the fields in any order by typing the field name followed by your answer, type ? to see the whole form, done to submit it and cancel to leave. While a form is open you can still talk, emote and use most other commands. If you prefer the old chain of prompts, type options field. See help Input Form Fields for the details.
