general help: Profiles

AAARRRG!
Noooooo! Not another game with required profiles. No! No! No!
Actually... Quite the opposite.
What are profiles?
Profiles on Cosmic Rage are like a registry of information. They contain pieces of information about your character that someone might be able to find at a registry office.
What are profiles good for exactly?
For the most part, they are there for people to enhance their roleplay and be creative. However, if someone wants to play a character that joins an organization like the MI, SDL, and so on, they must submit a profile.
Do they serve us any in-game bonuses?
You get the following rewards for setting a profile:
1. Your profile shows up when people look you up in registry offices like the information center on Astraeus.
2. You get 1,000 roleplay points.
I can't write profiles.
No problem! When submitting your profile, you have the option to merely answer questions about your character.
When doing this, write in full sentences, such as: Bob likes to drink tea and spend time with his mates.
Our builder then formats it into a proper profile for you, nice and easy!
how do I set my profile?
It is very easy to set a profile:
1. Type set-profile. Note the dash in this command.
2. Type in your profile, then submit it using a period (.) by itself on a blank line.
3. An administrator will review your profile and then either approve it or deny it, with reasons as as to the denial.
4. You can view the status of your profile, view your current profile, view comments on your profile and/or submit a new one simply by typing set-profile again.
Examples:
this is a good profile:
Bob Jenkins was born on the 10th of April, 2433, and has ambitions to become the greatest military pilot in history. He comes from a poor background, his mother and father having both died when he was young due to a plague on Navu.
He first joined the piloting Academy in 2460, but was kicked out for getting into a fight with the head prefect. After 3 years imprisonment for bar fights, bob has decided to take a step for the better and is now working on becoming that A-class pilot.
A profile getting accepted or denied will often be at the prerogative of the host so the above "good profile" may in fact not be the most accurate example as often a good or bad profile can be subjective.
A bad profile:
bob Jenkins is a great guy. He lives somewhere, eats chips, likes playing football and hates bananas.
Important: Profiles should not include physical characteristics of your character.
Think that you are writing up a report about your character when you write your profile. This should help you greatly.
Profiles do not need to be lengthy, though they should contain at least 3 paragraphs or 4 at the very least. This means complete sentences with more than 4 words in each.
We're also looking for spelling and grammar issues, as well as typographical errors. Please run your profile through a spell checker before submitting it, we are not your editors.
If you need assistance in writing a profile, please contact one of the newbie helpers or htpls. They will work with you, especially if you need help, and English isn't your first language.
Good luck!
