Character Statistics

Introduction to character statistics

Stats represent your character's natural strengths and mental aptitudes. Those familiar with d20-based table top roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons might be familiar with the format. Whenever a skill or stat check is made, a random number is generated between 1 and 20, and your character stat modifier is added to the number and compared to a target number to determine success or failure.
There are six stats in total:
  1. Agility: How quick, nimble, or coordinated your character is.

    1. Constitution: Your character's endurance and toughness. Higher constitution often means a larger health pool on each limb and governs things like mutariansi bioplasma regeneration and cy-larkan biofuel caps.

      1. Strength: Raw physical power.

        1. Charisma: Charm, stage presence, and social intuition.

          1. Intelligence: Memory and learning ability.

            1. Logic: Analytical thinking and problem-solving.

            2. Every skill is tied to one of these stats. For instance:
              Agility governs aim.
              Logic governs hacking.
              Charisma governs singing.
When a skill check is rolled, the relevant stat is rolled, and a modifier based on your skill level is added before the number is compared to the target difficulty.
You can view your stats by typing charinfo stats, or charinfo on its own.
you will be shown the name of the stat, the number of your stat and a descriptor.
The number represents how high you are in a particular stat. The average for most stats is usually between 10 and 14.
The descriptor is a small word or two that aims to shed light on the number, so for example, if a stat is at 17 and it says wise, this means you could consider yourself particularly wise.

              Setting Stats

You'll be prompted to set stats during Chargen. If you skip it, the system will ask again before you finish.
              The process works like this:
              1. Set your priority order for the six stats based on how you want to roleplay using the menu-based sliders. You can select a statistic and insert above or below, move it up or down, or reorder them as many times as you like before selecting Done.

                • Please note: Once you select done and progress to the stat rolling section, you cannot abort out of the wizard.

                  1. Roll your stats. You get two chances to roll randomly and can see what values you will have according you your racial buffs and debuffs.

                    • If you dislike both, you can choose the standard array: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8.

                      1. Finalize your choices.

                      2. If you're not happy with a stat roll, don't worry. You'll earn stat points as you rank up and can invest them to improve low stats.

                        Raising Stats

You gain a stat point every major rank change, (i.e. from novice to rookie pilot). These points can be spent by using specialized equipment which you can find in game.
For player convenience, one example of equipment for each stat has been documented below:
                        1. Agility: Use a treadmill in the bustling gym at the Galactic Academy.

                          1. Constitution: Use a rowing machine in the bustling gym at the Galactic Academy.

                            1. Strength: Use the weight machines in the bustling gym at the Galactic Academy.

                              1. Intelligence: Use the information terminal in the computer lab of the galactic academy.

                                1. Logic: Use the game consoles in the computer lab of the galactic academy.

                                  1. Charisma: Use the bank of computers in the computer lab of the galactic academy.

                                  2. You will always be able to recognize a piece of equipment that raises your stats by looking at it, as it tells you at the end of the description which of the six stats it trains. These aren't the only examples of such equipment. You may be able to find others through game play and exploration, these are the most widely used and could be considered common knowledge.
Simply type use . If you have gone through the process of setting your stats and starting skills and have stat points to spend, you will be prompted to raise your stat. If you consent, your stat will increase by one. Once spent, a stat point cannot be refunded.
using the equipment will always play messages and give roundtime for roleplaying purposes, though you will only spend stat points if you have explicitly agreed to do so with a prompt at the beginning of the sequence of messages.

                                    How stats and skills interact

Each character statistic is associated with one of the skills in our catalogue. Agility governs aim, Logic governs Hacking, etc. When you invest a stat point into one of your statistics, it benefits all the skills associated with that stat indirectly as your stat modifier will be higher.
To see which skills are governed by a stat, you can use the @skills command. For example, @skills agility.
Like with skills, you can roll a stat check with the @roll command and contest another person's stats with @contest

                                    Commands

charinfo stats: View the stats section of your character sheet.
@skills : View all the skills associated with a particular stat.
use : use one of the stat raising pieces of equipment found in game.
