gadgets help: mappers

Mapper stands for multi access personal providance RAU[rapid automation unit]. No one knows who came up with the name, and no one really wants to know.
The mappers serve many functions, least of all is their ability to transmit to you the goings on of the space life.
On the flight control side of a mapper, there are three sections:
1. Space monitoring: This is anything happening in space, including docking, landing, undocking, orbiting ETC.
2. Combat monitoring: This is the system that monitors anything combat related. Invasions, bombing, gunfire, ground attacks, ETC.
3. Ground control: This monitors anything on the ground, such as air vehicles, volcanoes, launching, ETC
You can adjust individual parts of your mappers flight control function at any time using the adjust command.
When a ship is announced over flight control, most of the time, for shortness, its transponder code will be used.
If you want to see what that ship is called, and its owner, you will need to look it up with the lookup command. This requires a software patch, see below.

Software patches:
Software patches are what allow a pilot to add more functionality to their mapper, such as looking up transponder codes. Patches are purchased from the same store that you buy the mapper from.
Type HELPDESK and select option four to choose the patch of your dreams.

Here is a list of patches and what they do:
[1] Lookup starship transponder codes: Allows you to retrieve a ship name from its transponder.
[2] hear the announcing of comets: Announces when comets enter and leave local sectors.
[3] wormhole scanning capabilities: find what wormholes are open from the comfort of your couch.
[4] star activity monitor: Announces when stars are safe to be studied.
[5] meteor monitoring: Hear when meteor storms become available for study.
[6] lookup a person's info: Look up information on a person, right from the comfort of your couch!
[7] GPS upgrade: Your mapper will continue to give you directions to a store or place as you move along, even updating itself if you take a wrong turn.
[8] moons patch: Hear when moons enter and exit local space.
[9] Air Quality: Alerts you of nearby rooms having bad air quality.
Other mappre functions:
They are wearable and must be turned on before you can use them.
Mappers will make it so that you do not have to approach people to ask for directions with the map command.
They change color if there are enemies in locals(red), or not (green).
They also flash gold for when talking about military ships, or turn blue if there are only ground invaders.

Other commands for mappers:
combat : Toggle on or off whether, when you enter a room, your mapper does a sweep of the rooms nearby for enemies and alerts you about it
adjust : filter or unfilter sections of the flight control part of your mapper
air : look for any planets under air assault.
ground : look for any planets under ground assault
invaded : look for local sectors under attack
lookup-person : Look up a person on your mapper, providing you have the patch.
lookup : Look up a starship's transponder code.
meteors : Find out where meteor storms are.
starfind : Find sectors with dangerous star activity.
turn : turn your mapper on or off
Wormholes " Check the location of wormholes detected.
view history "allows one to view a mapper's history such as flight control, star activity etc"
