Informational Computer Calendars
The calendar system allows you to keep track of personal events, shared plans and scheduled appointments from your informational computer.
Opening the calendar
Open the calendar application on your informational computer. You will be offered a calendar view, an event view or the option to return.
You can jump to it quickly by typing calendar.
Calendar view
Calendar view displays the selected day together with the seven days before it and the seven days after it. The selected day is marked with an asterisk. Each date shows how many events are scheduled, followed by the time and title of each event.
The following navigation commands are available:
nd Move to the next day.
nw Move to the next week.
nm Move to the next month.
pd Move to the previous day.
pw Move to the previous week.
pm Move to the previous month.
events Open the event manager for the selected date.
help Display the available calendar commands.
q Leave calendar view.
Event view
Event view allows you to manage the events on the selected date.
You can view an event, add a new event, edit an event you own, delete an event, change the selected date or return to the previous menu.
Creating an event
When creating an event, you will be asked for a title, description, repeat setting, time and a list of people with whom the event should be shared.
Event times must be entered using the twenty-four-hour hh:mm format. For example, 09:30 is half past nine in the morning and 21:15 is quarter past nine in the evening.
Events may be set not to repeat, or to repeat every day, every seven days, every fourteen days, every twenty-eight days, monthly or yearly.
Shared events
You may share an event with other players. A shared event is automatically placed on the calendars of the people included in it.
When the owner changes a shared event, the updated information is passed to everyone still attending. Anyone removed from the sharing list will have the event removed from their calendar. Newly added attendees will receive the event automatically.
Only the owner may make global changes to a shared event. A recipient may remove the event from their own calendar without deleting it for everyone else.
Appointments
The appointment system is connected to the calendar.
Once an appointment has a confirmed meeting time, it is automatically added to the calendars of the person who requested it, the person to whom it is assigned and any additional attendees.
If the appointment time, details, assigned person or attendee list changes, the related calendar entries are automatically updated. Anyone who is no longer attending will have the appointment removed from their calendar.
Cancelled and concluded appointments are removed automatically.
Appointment events are identified separately from ordinary personal events, so updating an appointment will not overwrite an unrelated calendar entry.
Calendar alerts
The system can alert you before an event begins. Alerts may be sent five, ten, fifteen, twenty or thirty minutes beforehand, as well as one hour, two hours and twenty-four hours beforehand.
Appointment alerts clearly identify the event as an appointment.
